Neocean© is a spinoff of the University of Montpellier, where the initial technology was developed with a number of different laboratories.
In 2017, a technology transfer acceleration company called AxLR launched a technology maturation project based on a project led by Vincent Dufour, relating to an electric hydrofoil-based watercraft.
AxLR financed the initial engineering studies for the robotics, hydrodynamics, mechatronics and embedded systems components.
These studies were also made possible thanks to researchers, facilities, and technology platforms made available by the University of Montpellier.
Officially founded on May 20, 2019, Neocean SAS was granted “Young University Enterprise” (JEU) status in France.
A number of research professors from the university are affiliated with the company, and a long-term collaborative relationship was established through scientific competitions between the university’s research labs and Neocean©.
Neocean© received a support for major institutions : BPIfrance, Solar Impulse Foundation, GreenTech Innovation, ADEME.
Neocean© is experiencing strong commercial growth.
The company has a presence in France and abroad, thanks to its network of exclusive distributors in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Greece, and the United Arab Emirates.
The Overboat© appeals to a broad range of users, including rental providers, boat clubs, ocean professionals, and pleasure boating ports in France and abroad.
Overboat© watercraft have been present at the Nautical Olympic Stadium since January 2022, when the French Canoe-Kayak Federation (FFCK) and the national sports agency acquired several units for canoe sprint training.

Our boats were designed with support from the Yacht Design Collective (a naval architect firm) and designer JB Epron. Construction is handled by the SCC shipyard in Balaruc with hydrofoil and composite specialists. Many partners and subcontractors are also involved in this innovative project (engineering consultants, platforms).
